There are a number of steps on how to control fleas mites and ticks in your pet household.
First, to understand the need for controlling these little monsters:
Flea and tick control measures are one of the most important precautions to take for your beloved fur-babies. These little critters can cause many problems in colossal proportions when left unchecked.
You know how irritating it is to have that lousy piece of paper sticking out from the back of your shirt, touching your neck and stuff. Now imagine this but 10 times worse and you get a side order of diseases to come with it.
Our pets undergo a lot of stress, irritation and general lack of peace when these ectoparasites roam or latch onto their bodies. They are only out for one thing – blood. The more there are on their bodies, the more the blood they suck and the sicklier they become. Every bite is elicits an intense feeling of itchiness. The itchiness triggered then leads to exposure of the lower layers of the skin, exposing them to bacteria and fungi among other pathogens.
Result? Skin infections.
Remember the side order of disease we talked about? The residency of these parasites brings about a myriad of diseases.
Ticks bring about a truck load of blood parasites. These blood parasites destroy your dog’s red blood cells leading to anemia. Goes without saying that after this, your dog will be lethargic, probably won’t eat and will be having stool anomalies. The blood loss is worsened because of the ticks sucking blood like a baby suckles from a teat.
Fleas aren’t any better either! They invade in large numbers, suck blood and effectively destroy the skin structure of your pet as the move around your pets’ bodies. This really exposes your pets to dermatological conditions that take time, effort and monetary investment to see even the slightest progress.
Mites can either burrow into your pet’s skin thereby destroying its integrity, or wipe out extensive regions of hair like the aliens do when landing their UFOs in a corn field.
We don’t wish this on anyone, especially not on our Trinkets Furmily. We need to employ flea mite and tick control.
Here’s how:
Tick and Flea control
Ecto-parasite control is done by applying certain drugs on parts of the skin. This can also be achieved by giving tablets to some dogs. This is mainly done during routine visits to your veterinarian.
Speaking of your veterinarian…
When your veterinarian offers to give some form of ectoparasite control, COMPLY!
This is the best move you can make on behalf of your pets. It doesn’t matter whether your cat is an indoor cat, wearing sweaters and cute mittens to keep their toe-beans warm. It does not matter that your dog is the best dog south of the Sahara and north of the Limpopo – unless your dog walks on land,
FLEAS and Tick control LAZIMA!!!
Remember, your pet’s welfare is entirely in your hands. Their life depends on you!
